‘Doug Howery: The Grass Sweeper God’ Book Cover Art

Here’s the cover art illustration for the book “The Grass Sweeper God” by the writer Dough Howery (self release, June 2014). This has been one of the wildest commissions I have ever had, as I had the challenge to depict a gay boy in a girl’s blouse being raped/beaten almost to death in a graveyard, with the fire spirit of a woman ascending from the tombstone next to him, and try to connect both characters somehow. This has its logic in the book, of course 🙂

But in the end I really enjoyed the process of this one. Had a fun vintage-shopping afternoon for some of the props I need for the photo-session and everything else came smoothly.
