About me:
My name is Mario Sánchez Nevado. I was born in Premiá de Dalt (Barcelona – Spain) in July 10th 1985.
My first real experiments in digital art started back in 2004, after having been working as a freelancer website designer for 4 years. My illustrations are mainly done with digital tools and photography, although I also work in traditional medias (oil, acrylics, pastels or watercolours). From time to time I work on video as well, from stop-motion animation to video-clips. Other of my passions is music, and apart of a solo project, I am vocalist in a progressive rock/metal band called Tabulsa Rasa.
I am mostly self-taught. I am graduated in Fine Arts (University of Murcia), but honestly I have only learnt in the loneliness of my studio, covered in painting or having days without sleeping with Photoshop, the main software I use for image editing and creation. I prefer to experiment the medias and materials from my own and personal point of view even if it may be wrong, so that way I try to create my own creative and artistic language.
I am mainly attracted by “real” dark art (I don’t mean by that new wave of suicidal-gothic-chicks in sad landscapes with violins and crows) but also by the surreals. In my list of favourite artists you can find personalities such as Travis Smith, Dave McKean, Dalí or Magritte, but also I love the work of Tomasz Trafial, Misha Gordin, Andrés Serrano, Beksinski, Jan Saudek, H.R. Giger, Sandorfi… But apart from images I get some more inspiration in cinema (specially from David Lynch) or music (theGathering or Anathema), because they have such visual power.
As you can see creativity is my engine, no matter the media or format, to throw out from myself my “bad thoughs” when I create personal stuff, but I also work for others as a freelance designer (Ryusuken, KIO, Autonomy Within, Def Tactical, Ashent…).
My works has been featured in international press, webzine and TV such as Nosólomúsica (Telecinco TV, Spain), Advanced Photoshop Magazine, Albedo One, Third Millenium Magazine, SF Holland Magazine, Revista Arte y Diseño, Phirebrush, DeviantArt, 2Edged Magazine, Ex7, UCE Life Magazine, etc, etc, etc… You can read some interesting interviews online at Phirebrush #46, deviantArt and a chat log from a conference I gave to the users of the #digitalmedia channel back in 2006. You can also find a list of links to diverse interviews and features of my work in diverse medias at the bottom of this page.
I have also done collaborations with other artists such as Victor Murillo, Oana Cambrea or Alba Navas, both in illustration and installation/performance and video.
And last but not least: my works are licensed under a Creative Commons License. I don’t understand the madness about the property of images, which is like a fever nowadays. Images are of the artists, that’s for sure, but dennying its distribution is something counterproductive. I don’t care if my work is shown all over the Internet, in fact, it’s promotion for me and it will happen anyways (credit is always appreciated, though! (: ).
I hope you are feeling comfortable in my little cybernetic home, sit back and enjoy (:
Sobre mí:
¡Hola!
